Aim your eyes to focus beyond the screen (e.g. where your reflection is) but focus your eye lenses at the screen. The opposite of cross-eyed. This takes some work as the lenses tend to automatically focus where the eyes are aimed. (I'm short sighted, and find it easier if I take off my glasses since then my lenses can't focus too far away no matter how much they want to.) The more you do this, the easier it gets, and the more spectacular the results. It can take some people several attempts of several minutes over a week before they get it, while for others it works almost right away. If you don't get it, try again tomorrow. And it really helps if you relax, don't try too hard or it simply won't work.
Make sure your eyes are perfectly horizontal, uncross your eyes and use the grids to line things up (you should see 3 verticals, not 2 or 4), then move down to the words. Don't bother trying to read the words, they are simply a background visual pattern using ASCII text. Eventually the hidden messages should literally pop out at you. But concentrate on the background to keep things in focus.
