Prepare
- Mix:
- Fry, adding garlic after the onions brown:
- 4 Tbs — Olive Oil (only 1T if using fatty meat instead of chicken)
- 1 large — Onion (finely diced)
- 4 cloves — Garlic (crushed and chopped)
- In a large bowl, crush:
- 10 — Crackers (whole wheat)
- ½ tsp — Pepper
- ½ tsp — Salt
- Add to crackers and mix:
- Onions and garlic (from above)
- 2 — Eggs
- 1 Tbs — Worcestershire Sauce
- 4 Tbs — Ketchup
- ¾ Cup — Apple Sauce
- Thoroughly combine into mix:
- 2 Lb — Ground Chicken
- Fry, adding garlic after the onions brown:
- Sauce:
- 1 Cup — Ketchup
- ½ Cup — Cider Vinegar
- 3 Tbs — Sugar
- 1 Tbs — Molasses
Marinate
The sauce needs to sit for a few hours to temper the vinegar taste.
The meat mix can, but doesn't have to, marinate for a few hours.
Bake
- Put meat into a baking dish and level the top.
- Cover with half the sauce.
- Bake for 75 to 90 minutes at 350°F. (internal 155°F)
- Let sit for at least 10 minutes.
Serve
- Mashed Potatoes
- Corn
- Top slices with heated remaining sauce.
